Ambassador Balkrishna Shetty had served in the Indian Foreign Service from 1976 to 2010 and in the Indian Statistical Service from 1973 to 1976. He has been Ambassador of India to several countries: to the Kingdom of Sweden and to Latvia concurrently (2009-2010); to the Kingdom of Bahrain (2005-2008); and to Cape Verde Islands, The Gambia, Guinea Bissau, Mali, Mauritania and Senegal concurrently (2001- 2005). A significant part of his work experience involved dealing with economic and trade issues not only in the Indian Ministry of External Affairs as Joint Secretary dealing with bilateral technical and economic cooperation with foreign countries, and in the Indian Ministry of Commerce as Undersecretary dealing with state-trading and Indian investments abroad, but also as India’s Commercial Representative in Bangladesh, Singapore and France along with a stint in the Industries and Trade Division of the Central Statistical Organization, N Delhi.
After retirement from Government service, he has been a Diplomatic Mentor at the Indian Council for World Affairs and is currently teaching at IIIT Delhi.
M. Harish Kamath has over 24 years of experience in Management Consulting and Electronic Procurement. His experience in the infrastructure sector spans conceptualization, strategy, risk assessment, preparation of business plans for infrastructure projects. He has worked on over 150 Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects in sectors like Airports, Ports, Inland Container Depots/Container Freight Stations, Roads, Inland Water Transport, Railways, Mass Rapid Transport System (MRTS). He has worked on some marquee assignments in the transport infrastructure sector like the first PPP Container Terminal project at Jawaharlal Nehru Port, the first PPP Greenfield Port at Mundra, the first PPP Container Railway project and Operation, maintenance and development of Mumbai and Delhi airports. His previous employers include Tata Sons Ltd. (division Tata Economic Consultancy Services), ICRA Management Consulting Services Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of ICRA Ltd. and Lamina Foundries.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal (India) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) from T.A.Pai Management Institute, Manipal (India) with specialization in Finance and Marketing. He has worked in consulting assignments in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Philippines.
